It's been almost four weeks without a drop of alcohol. I spend far more time thinking about drink than I did when I was drinking. The great thing about putting a few weeks between now and my last drink is that the longer the run goes on the less likely I am to fall off the wagon.
I've been reading lots of fora on the net where fellow abstainees are relating their tales of woe. There seems to be a trend. In their early/mid 20s many people seem to give up smoking and then you see the same thing with drink in the early/mid 30s.
Any reason I had for drinking has gone. I was always a messy drinker so, with the help of God, I'll be dry for a good long while to come.
